We have created an Angel Tree to provide children of homeless veterans with presents this Christmas season.
Veteran family members are often missed when volunteers head out to count homeless individuals. Veterans with families often stay with friends, known as “doubling up.” Or, forced to fragment, parents send kids to stay with family while they go to a shelter. Goodwill Veteran Case Managers work with our local veterans to find out necessary items and a wish list for each child. In most cases, this will be the only gift these children receive all year. Community members can come into the Goodwill Veterans Service Office on Lockwood Ridge and University and pick an Angel Tree tag from the tree and help a child. Gifts will need to be returned to the Goodwill Veterans Office by December 18th, and volunteers and staff will distribute your gifts to families. The Angel Tree program is helping to provide a Merry Christmas, one child at a time.
If you would like to donate Christmas gifts to a family in need, please call our Veteran Services Department at 941.355.2721 ext. 451
