SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Nancy Krohngold opened up Nancy’s Bar-B-Q in Sarasota in 2011 after catering to local residents and businesses owners for a decade and has added Goodwill Ambassador to a long list of achievements and awards. Though the title may not have come after winning a barbecue competition, it is a title she is proud to hold.
“I am excited to become involved with Goodwill Manasota – I’m a shopper and a donor, and I believe in their mission of changing lives. Sarasota is an extremely philanthropic community and so many people give back – it’s just what we do,” said Nancy Krohngold, owner of Nancy’s Bar-B-Q. “I’ve been fortunate to have the support of this community, and it’s our responsibility as businesses to give back and help nonprofits such as Goodwill. I also really enjoy the quality of clothes I buy – in fact, the majority of my work shirts are from Goodwill!”
During the Young Guns of Country concert, in partnership with 106.5 CTQ and iHeart Media, Goodwill was the recipient of food and beverages donated by Nancy’s Bar-B-Q for the VIP Eat & Greet lounge, sponsored by RSS Rapid Security Solutions. On July 29, the concert took place on the “Cool Today” stage at the Sarasota “Opry” House and Nancy’s Bar-B-Q was sold to an audience of approximately 1,100 people. Not only did Krohngold donate the food from the VIP lounge; she also donated a portion of the proceeds from food and beverages sold during the event.
“Nancy Krohngold is the perfect example of a local business owner who has taken it upon herself to give back to people in her community. She is a fantastic Goodwill Ambassador because she embodies everything we value at Goodwill – she believes in the power of a job, a steady paycheck, and giving people a chance to succeed,” said Bob Rosinsky, President & CEO of Goodwill Manasota. “Goodwill is a local nonprofit organization
with approximately 900 local employees, a local board of directors and – in essence – Goodwill is owned by this community. People like Nancy understand that, and that’s why they become involved. Thank you to Nancy and her team for showing good corporate social responsibility – you are directly impacting our ability to reach our mission of changing lives through the power of work.”
Nancy’s Bar-B-Q boasts several awards including Sarasota Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Award for four consecutive years in the category of “Best Barbecue” and SRQ Magazine’s Local Readers Competitions for three consecutive years for “Best BBQ”. The restaurant has also received the 1st place “Best Ribs” award in the 2015 Sarasota Herald Tribune Readers’ Poll. Additional accolades include Creative Loafing’s Best of The Suncoast 2008 Critic’s Pick for “Best Roadside Dining” and Best of the Suncoast 2009 Critic’s Pic for “Best Underground Restaurant.” Krohngold was also selected as the food purveyor for President Bill Clinton when he participated in the Ringling College Library Association “Town Hall” Speakers Series in 2009.
