Katherine was 18 when she got married to Ken. She had plans to attend college after she graduated high school, but shortly after she and Ken found out that they had a baby on the way.
They decided it would be better to save some money and postpone Katherine’s education. So, instead of school, she took a full time job as a cashier at a local supermarket.
She and Ken had used up all their savings by the time the baby was born. Katherine returned to her job, but even with both incomes, it was a struggle with a baby. Katherine decided she needed to try to find a better job.
Katherine liked some of the extra benefits Goodwill offered; like a Good Partner Coach, a free life coach offered to all Goodwill Manasota Team Members. When she met her coach, they discussed Katherine’s goals. She knew that she wanted to attend college and get her degree but she said that goal felt like it was unattainable for her at this point. Her coach encouraged her not to give that dream up.
Today, Katherine’s goals are right on track and the goal that she thought she couldn’t attain was in sight. She had learned that she did not have to put things on hold; she just had to focus and make her goals happen. Katherine knows now that she is in control; not anyone else.
Katherine is now attending college and working towards that degree that she thought was impossible so many years ago.
