Joe has a long history with Goodwill; he was a student at the Goodwill Academy in 2006. As part of the program there, he would also work a few hours a day at the North Sarasota store. Since then, he has worked with Titled Goods, Honore, and Facilities Maintenance. Joe took a short break at the end of 2014 to work in the construction industry, but he found that the work was not steady. It was either feast or famine – which did not work for him because he had a car payment to make every month. So, Joe came back to Goodwill and worked at our Venice store. While at Venice, he enrolled in the Ave Maria Workforce Education program and received his High School Diploma on August 18, 2016.
Joe and his fiancée found an affordable apartment in Bradenton and the commute to and from Venice took up a significant portion of his day. When Joe heard that Goodwill was opening a new store on Cortez Road in Bradenton, he requested a transfer. The transfer to the new store took place right before Cortez opened in April 2017.
Joe says he knows he can count on Goodwill, not only for a full-time job with consistent hours, but for the flexibility to change positions/locations within the company when his situation changes AND for the services Goodwill offers its Team Members: which include a GoodPartner Coach and the chance to get a high school diploma. Joe has learned that there are not any other employers out there with those types of benefits! In return, Goodwill can count on Joe to provide world class customer service as a valuable, seasoned employee.
